Signature methods
Here are our answers to the most frequently asked questions about JioSign
1. What types of signatures are offered by JioSign?
JioSign supports two types of signatures:
- e-Signature – is an OTP based signature method in which every e-Signature is validated with a countersign from JioSign, which can also be validated also by seeing the signature properties.
- Digital Signature – a DSC (Digital Signature Certificate) token (USB) based signature issued by the CCA (Controller of Certifying Authorities, India). This can be obtained from any CCA approved e-Signature provider.
2. What is an e-Signature?
e-Signature is an OTP based signature in which every e-Signature done by a participant is countersigned by JioSign. This ensures that the signatures are tampered with, then the document will become tamper-evident. e-Signature verifies a user’s identity based on their email ID or mobile number verified through OTP.
3. What is a digital signature?

4. What is a document signer certificate?
Document Signer Certificates offer the possibility of acquiring certificates in the name of your organization to facilitate the automatic signing of PDF documents, covering a broad range of potential use cases such as invoices, tax statements, and employee records, among others.
